This Maryland Board of Nursing-approved course is a structured 40 hour didactic course to train the experienced RN to perform forensic examinations on patients age 13 years and older.
Some components include self-paced learning modules that are completed outside of the classroom setting. There is a clinical skills component of 40-60 hours that must be completed in addition to the didactic coursework in order to submit for the Maryland FNE-A certification.
Cost includes peer reviewed texts for each participant.

Registrants are required to attend all four dates to receive a completion certificate.
- This continuing nursing education activity was approved to award 40 contact hours by the International Association of Forensic Nurses, an accredited approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
- This program is supported in part by the Maryland Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention and the Maryland Department of Health.
ACCREDITATION STATEMENT: This program has been approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing &is consistent w/the IAFN educational guidelines.
