The Frederick Keys brought their teamwork and community spirit beyond the ballpark as staff members, alongside their mascot Keyote, donated blood at Frederick Health’s new Blood Donor Center to support local patients.

Just as players show up when it matters most on the field, Frederick Keys’ staff showed up amid a nationwide blood shortage to give back to the Frederick community. Donations are crucial for patients in critical situations, such as those undergoing surgery, trauma victims, or individuals with certain medical conditions like cancer or anemia.
By stepping up to donate, the Frederick Keys demonstrated how a commitment to community extends far beyond game day, while encouraging fans and community members to get involved.
“Our fans support us every season, and this is our chance to support them and their families in a lifesaving way,” said Frederick Keys General Manager, Slater Fuchs. “We are proud to be part of this community, and donated blood is one of the most impactful ways we can help families in need.”

Located at the Frederick Health Village, the Blood Donor Center offers an accessible and welcoming environment for donors, supporting its mission to positively impact the lives of every individual in the community.
“When you donate blood at Frederick Health’s Blood Donor Center, your donation stays in the Frederick community," said Bruce Williams, Director of Laboratory Services at Frederick Health. “You could save your neighbor, friend, or relative all at the same time. A single donation can help as many as three patients.”
Donations collected at the center directly support patients within the Frederick Health system, reinforcing the importance of local involvement in sustaining critical healthcare resources.

Frederick Health encourages other community organizations to follow the Frederick Keys’ lead and donate. In addition to providing a way to give back and directly support the local community, the donation center is a critical tool in ensuring a steady supply to respond to emergencies, natural disasters, and other significant events that could impact Frederick County.
