What Is Endocrinology?
The endocrine system controls the body’s hormones. It consists of a set of glands that both store and produce hormones. The endocrine system affects metabolism, sensory perception, sexual development, movement, growth, respiration, and more. When hormones are not produced in the proper amount, this can cause a number of different disorders and conditions. The three categories of endocrine diseases are tumors, gland hyposecretion, and gland hypersecretion. Endocrinologists are medical professionals who specialize in the treatment of these disorders.
