Frederick Health is returning as the presenting sponsor of the Frederick Center’s Pride Festival and Parade for the third consecutive year.
For Frederick Health, supporting Pride extends beyond a single event. As part of its ongoing efforts to advance health equity, the health system has implemented initiatives designed to better understand and serve LGBTQIA+ patients, including collecting Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) information within patients’ electronic health records, updating intake forms with inclusive language, and providing education for team members on LGBTQIA+ healthcare needs.
Collecting SOGI information helps care teams deliver more personalized care and identify opportunities to address health disparities that may affect LGBTQIA+ individuals in the Frederick community.
In recognition of these efforts, members of Frederick Health’s Diversity and Inclusion Council were honored by the Frederick Center with its 2023 Allies of the Year Award.
“Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council leads efforts to advance health equity for our patients and the broader community,” said Dana Hutchinson, a registered nurse at Frederick Health and member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council.
“We are grateful for the partnerships that help make this work possible, including the Frederick Center and the Frederick County Health Department. Together, we are creating a healthcare experience where every person feels seen, respected and supported.”
Frederick Pride festivities kick off on June 26, 2026. Through its continued sponsorship, meaningful community partnerships, workforce education and inclusive practices, Frederick Health remains committed to fostering a welcoming environment where all individuals can access inclusive, equitable, and high-quality care.
