The Daily Record names Frederick Health physician “Physician of the Year”

Frederick Health is proud to announce that Dr. Saro Sarkisian has been named a 2026 Health Care Hero by The Daily Record, earning recognition in the Physician of the Year category. 

The Health Care Heroes Awards honor individuals and organizations across Maryland that have made a significant impact on the quality of healthcare. Winners are selected by The Daily Record’s editorial team and are recognized for their leadership, innovation and dedication to patient care. 

Dr. Sarkisian, an oncologist in Frederick Health’s Oncology & Hematology practice, was recognized for his outstanding contributions to patient care and his commitment to advancing health outcomes within the Frederick community. Dr. Sarkisian is a national leader in the adoption of Tumor Treating Fields (TT Fields) therapy for lung cancer and was recently the first physician in the county to offer this FDA-approved, noninvasive treatment for pancreatic cancer. 

His clinical expertise, compassionate approach, and dedication to innovative excellence exemplify the values that define Frederick Health. His dedication to patient care is reflected in his patient experience score, a culmination of approval-based ratings surveys given to patients to review Frederick Health providers following their care. Dr. Sarkisian’s patient approval rating is within the 90th percentile, reflecting consistently high levels of satisfaction from his patients.
