Preceptors
Cherryl Peterson, Pharm.D., CPEL
Dr. Peterson, Director of Pharmacy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Bemidji State University and a Doctor of Pharmacy from Idaho State University. She completed ASHP Clinical Residency training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Additional training includes ASHP traineeships in Anticoagulation and Hyperlipidemia and participation in the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Institute at Boston College School of Management. Dr. Peterson enjoys golfing, woodworking and home renovation projects.
Adam Shimoda, Pham.D.

Jennifer Dwyer, Pharm.D., BCPS
Dr. Dwyer is the Residency Program Director for the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Frederick Health Hospital. Originally a New Englander, Dr. Dwyer earned her Bachelors of Science from the University of Bridgeport in May 2015 and then pursued her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Saint Joseph School of Pharmacy and Physician Assistant Studies in May 2018. She relocated from Connecticut to Maryland after completing her PGY1 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in June 2019. She currently is the Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and precepts the Intensive Care Unit learning experience. Besides being involved with the residency program at Frederick Health Hospital, she also serves as an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience preceptor for Shenandoah University, the University of Maryland, and Notre Dame of Maryland University. Outside of work, Dr. Dwyer enjoys spending time with her family, reading, crafting, and exploring the outdoors.
Robyn Firmin, Pham.D., BCPP
Dr. Firmin is the Residency Program Coordinator for the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Frederick Health Hospital. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Taking a non-traditional route, she worked in a state psychiatric facility for several years before obtaining her board certification in psychiatric pharmacy. She has since joined Frederick Health as the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Behavioral Health. She currently serves as preceptor for both the Acute Care Psychiatry rotation and as co-preceptor of the Drug Information longitudinal rotation. She serves as an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience preceptor for the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and Notre Dame of Maryland University. When not working, Dr. Firmin enjoys spending time with her family including her many dogs and cats.
Nadia Adjin-Tettey, Pharm.D.
Dr. Adjin-Tettey obtained her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University Of Maryland School of Pharmacy in Baltimore, Maryland. She went on to complete her post-graduate training (PGY-1) at Frederick Health Hospital. After completing her residency, she was hired on with Frederick Health as a Clinical Pharmacist and was later promoted to being a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Pharmacy Informatics. Her goal is to eventually become a board-certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist as well as CPHIMS certified soon. In her free time, Dr. Adjin-Tettey enjoys spending time with her family, baking and traveling.
Mary Colson, Pharm.D., BCGP, CPGx
Dr. Colson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Dr. Colson also completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Frederick Health Hospital. Following residency, she was hired as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Transitions of Care and remained in this role for the first 5 years of her career. She then took on a new role as Frederick Health’s Pharmacogenomics Pharmacist. Additionally, she holds a board certification as a Geriatric Pharmacist and Pharmacogenomics certificate. She serves as an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience preceptor for both Shenandoah University and the University of Maryland Schools of Pharmacies. For fun, Dr. Colson enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, and crafting.
Corinne "Corey" Denney, Pham.D., BCPS
Dr. Denney grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Duquesne University School of Pharmacy in Pittsburgh with her Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2012. She has previous work experience in both inpatient oncology unit and outpatient infusion centers, and at the Food and Drug Administration where she was a Team Lead for Generic Drug Labeling. She has transitioned back to the ambulatory infusion setting here at the James M. Stockman Cancer Institute at Frederick Health. Dr. Denney serves as the preceptor for the oncology learning experience for both residents and pharmacy students. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and reading.
Katie Heavner, Pharm.D., BCPS
Dr. Heavner graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelors of Science in May 2010 before going on to the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy where she earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2014. She then ventured to Connecticut to complete a PGY-1 at Yale-New Haven Hospital in June 2015 and earned a teaching certificate along the way. After residency, Dr. Heavner returned to Maryland and started working at Frederick Health Hospital in 2016 as a clinical pharmacist for several years. More recently, Dr. Heavner became the Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and currently precepts for the Clinical Skills/Internal Medicine Rotation. She also serves as an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience preceptor for Notre Dame of Maryland University and the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Outside the work environment, Dr. Heavner enjoys traveling, reading, crafting and exploring the outdoors.
Jessica Jordan, Pharm.D., BCGP
Dr. Jordan is originally from Barbados and earned her pharmacy degree from the University of Toronto before completing her non-traditional Doctorate of Pharmacy at the University of Florida in 2015. She has practiced at Frederick Health for nearly 15 years in diverse inpatient and outpatient roles—including emergency medicine, ambulatory care, and care transitions—and now specializes in geriatrics and care transitions. Board certified in geriatric pharmacy since 2019, Dr. Jordan is passionate about polypharmacy stewardship, age-friendly healthcare, and preventing adverse drug reactions and prescribing cascades in older adults. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her Savannah cat, reading, being outdoors, and visiting her home island of Barbados.
Lauren Marchone, Pharm.D., BCPS
Dr. Marchone is a clinical pharmacist at Frederick Health Hospital. She obtained her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in Baltimore, Maryland in 2008. Afterwards, she ventured into retail pharmacy briefly before switching to a clinical role at Frederick Health Hospital. She has been involved in several aspects of pharmacy at FHH including the anticoagulation clinic, decentralized pharmacist, ICU, NICU, and Emergency Department. Dr. Marchone took on the role of preceptor for the Anticoagulation Clinic longitudinal rotation for several years before returning her focus back to inpatient services. Currently she is a clinical pharmacist and precepts for Clinical Skills and Decentralized Pharmacist rotations. In her free time, she enjoys raising her busy family with three energetic boys.
Benjamin Miller, Pharm.D.
Dr. Miller grew up in Portersville, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences with a Pre-Pharmacy Emphasis. He continued with post-graduate education at Western New England University where he was involved in several organizations including Phi Delta Chi and Phi Lambda Sigma. Dr. Miller earned his Doctor of Pharmacy in May 2022, and subsequently completed a PGY-1 pharmacy residency at Frederick Health Hospital. He remains interested in critical care, emergency medicine, and infectious diseases. He currently operates as a co-chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee and serves as an Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist at Frederick Health Hospital. He is a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Boston Red Sox, and greatly enjoys spending time with his wife, Rose, and two cats named Hamster and Sly.
Sheryl Nwankwo, Pharm.D., BCPS
Dr. Nwankwo earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from the University of Houston in 2014 and then obtained her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University Of Houston School Of Pharmacy in May 2019. She completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch CMC in June 2020. Her residency experience was an unique ambulatory care role in the correctional system in Huntsville, Texas. Dr. Nwankwo started within the Frederick Health System in April 2025 as a decentralized clinical pharmacist and co-precepts the decentralized learning experience. In her free time, Dr. Nwankwo loves traveling, reading, and going to concerts/art shows.
Tina Pho, Pharm.D., BCPS
Dr. Pho graduated from the Shenandoah University School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. She remained at Inova, initially working as a clinical pharmacist before advancing to a clinical specialist role in behavioral health. Later, she relocated to Frederick, MD, where she joined Frederick Health Hospital as a clinical pharmacist and currently precepts the Decentralized Pharmacist learning experience.
Caitlin Sas, Pharm.D., BCPPS
Dr. Sas graduated with a Chemistry degree from Towson University in 2016 and earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from University of Maryland in 2020. She completed her PGY-1 training at Frederick Health Hospital. After residency, she was hired on as a Clinical Pharmacist and currently is the pediatric/NICU Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. Dr. Sas serves as a preceptor for the Pediatric/NICU learning experience and longitudinal Total Parenteral Nutrition learning experience. Dr. Sas sits on the VTE, Malnutrition, and Obstetrics harm task force. She enjoys all desserts/sweets, spending time with family and friends, reading, watching movies, going to amusement parks, and hiking.
Annie Shanton, Pharm.D., BCPS
Dr. Shanton is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Following graduation, she completed her PGY1 at UC San Diego Health, during which time she earned her teaching certificate. Prior to joining Frederick Health Hospital, she worked full time as a clinical staff pharmacist at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, CA as well as Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida where she completed the SIDP Antimicrobial Stewardship Certificate Program for pharmacists. At Frederick Health Hospital, she is the Medication Safety Officer and precepts the Medication Distribution longitudinal learning experience and the Medication Safety elective.
Sabrina Staas, Pharm.D.
Dr. Sabrina Staas graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore School of Pharmacy in 2020 and completed a PGY1 at Frederick Health Hospital with particular interest in critical care medicine. She is now the Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Specialist that precepts the Emergency Medicine learning experience, as well as the longitudinal code training experience. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, good food and time with family & friends.
Emily Yeager, Pharm.D.
Dr. Yeager graduated from Shenandoah University with her Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2018, and then went on to complete a community-based PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency through Valley Pharmacy at Winchester Medical Center in 2019. She works as a clinical pharmacist in the Frederick Health outpatient pharmacy, which runs a meds-to-beds program for patients discharging from Frederick Health Hospital, fills palliative medications for Frederick Health Hospice, and is the primary retail pharmacy for employees of the hospital. Her professional interests include care transitions and women's health. In her spare time, Emily enjoys gardening, antiquing, taking on projects around her 120-year old Victorian home, and spending time with her spouse, Will and cats, Eevee and Tamale.
Residents
Charleen Anani, Pharm.D.
Dr. Anani, born and raised in Maryland, earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy in May 2025 from the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Pharmacy. She is excited to conquer all the full spectrum of experiences residency will bring, with her main interest being psychiatry. Her goal is to earn a BCPP certification and make a positive impact on her patients. During her free time, she enjoys playing instruments like piano and trumpet, ice skating, reading and hanging out with her cat Twix.
Clarissa Santori, Pharm.D.
Dr. Santori started her career before pharmacy in research in the pharmaceutical industry and academia after graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Northeastern University in 2017. She then completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in 2025. As a PGY-1 resident at Frederick Health Hospital, she is involved with the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee. Areas of clinical interest include Infectious Diseases and Emergency Medicine. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her dog Apollo, as well as baking, trivia (including a Jeopardy! appearance), and going to Broadway shows.
