Class Descriptions & Schedule
Yoga and Pilates
Classes are fee based and generally run in 8-9 week sessions. Space is
limited and pre-registration is suggested as classes do fill. Drop-ins
are offered for a fee if space is available. Please call 240-215-1470

Senior Yoga - This gentle class, designed for adults ages 55 and older, will help
you gain strength, flexibility, balance, breath capacity, and peace of
mind. Yoga postures are adapted to address health conditions common among
aging adults such as arthritis, hypertension, and osteoporosis.
Prenatal Yoga - This class offers an opportunity to nurture your changing body and enhance
this magical time of life. Learn to connect with your baby and strengthen
your mind, body and spirit, in preparation for the rigors of pregnancy,
labor, delivery and motherhood! Appropriate stretches, lots of breath
work, supportive teachers and helpful information will ease your mind
as you learn with others and have fun, sharing this time. No experience required.
Gentle Yoga - A great class for beginners and everyone interested in exploring a gentle
practice. This class includes basic breathing exercises, as well as a
variety of foundational postures (standing, seated, and on the floor).
Gentle yoga improves flexibility, balance, strength and stamina. A consistent
yoga practice reduces stress and improves sleep. Class can be adapted
to a chair if you can’t get down on the floor. This class cultivates
an internal meditative experience while stretching and recharging the body.
Yoga - This flow-style class allows you to sequence through foundational postures,
breath awareness and finishes off with total relaxation of the mind and
body. You will be guided to work at your own pace during classes; therefore
this class is appropriate for both beginner and experienced practitioners alike.
Guided Relaxation and Meditation Using iRest Yoga Nidra - iRest provides you with tools to help you relax deeply, release stress,
increase resiliency, improve your interpersonal relationships, and provide
you with greater mastery and control in your life. iRest nourishes qualities
such as joy, peacefulness, empathy, forgiveness, patience, and loving
kindness toward yourself and others.
Yoga for Cancer
This class is specifically designed for cancer patients and survivors.
Classes include gentle postures, breath work, relaxation, and mindfulness
practices to help reduce stress, relieve symptoms, and promote well-being.
The instructor is professionally trained in adaptive/therapeutic yoga
and yoga for cancer. No yoga experience is required.
Pilates – A mat-based workout that focuses on strengthening the powerhouse
muscles in the center or the core of the body. This is beneficial in maintaining
good posture and alignment. Class is tailored for beginner to advanced levels.
