Our Forensic Nursing team is here to help if you feel unsafe or are in crisis. This special team of nurses and social workers deliver care on your terms, including medical care, education, connection to support, and collecting evidence and working with the criminal justice system. No law enforcement involvement is required when receiving care from our team

Access to care is private. You don’t need an app, and we offer video capabilities.

Services Provided

All the services we provide are tailored to the situation and based on each person’s individual needs, including:

  • Medical forensic exams – A specialized exam conducted to assess and treat someone that has experienced abuse or assault.
  • Lethality assessment – An exam that can identify those at high risk of death due to intimate partner violence. This exam also guides our patient education, referrals to support, and follow-up care.
  • Specialized documentation of injury – This includes photography, body maps, and specialized injury descriptions.
  • Forensic evidence collection – This includes the collection of potential DNA evidence.
  • Extensive patient education – We provide education based on each person’s needs.
  • Referrals and follow-up care – We provide referrals to additional support through Heartly House, the Child Advocacy Center (CAC), and other supportive agencies for follow-up care.
  • Court testimony – When needed, our Forensic Nurses can provide testimony in court.
